Cuando todas las espectativas en Nueva Zelanda, daban por seguro que la serie ante Chile terminaría 4-0 a favor de los locales, Chile sacó sus garras y se llevó el último encuentro ante los Black Sticks.El ascenso de Chile en la serie era evidente. El último partido por 1a vez quedamos en ventaja aunque lo perdimos. Hoy martes, en el último y 4° partido, Chile empezó ganando con un gol de corto de Esteban Krainz. Los Black Sticks igualaron con un gol de revés y luego se pusieron arriba por 2-1 con un corto. Así se fueron al descanso.
Al regreso, Chile igualó 2-2 con una jugada de corto de Thomas Kannegeiser y después llegó el gol de Thomas Krussig para el 3-2. Pero la victoria no vendría fácil. Un penal cobrado en favor de NZ fue atajado por Mathias Andwander. Así se mantendría el marcador hasta el cornetazo final. Chile se lleva el último partido ante NZ, quienes hace unos pocos meses habían derrotado a Australia, en la Copa Oceanía.

El que Chile haya ido de menos a más es un muy buen aliciente. Nueva Zelanda está entre el 8° y 10° lugar en el mundo. No es poca cosa ganarle a un TopTen.
La irregularidad que ha tenido el seleccionado refleja los primeros resultados. Lo definitivamente genial, es que nos estemos poniendo a punto. Si le ganamos a Gran Bretaña acá, rival que juega muy similar, sería algo sensacional, ya que eso es por los porotos, no como este partido que es preparatorio.

The Black Sticks men have tripped up in their fourth a final test against Chile – the world’s 20th ranked team. After a promising opening 10 minutes to the match, where NZ controlled possession and territory, it was Chile who scored first through a drag flick to lead 1-0. The Black Sticks struck back twice in the 1st half, firstly through a superb reverse stick shot by Phil Burrows after 20 minutes and then in the 31st minute when Andy Hayward converted a drag flick from NZ’s first penalty corner.
Chile were back in business just 3 minutes into the 2nd half when they converted from a penalty corner variation to draw level at 2-2. The winner came in controversial circumstances when Chile appeared to kick the ball while receiving in the circle – this was missed by both umpires and Chile slotted their 3rd goal 19 minutes into the 2nd half to lead 3-2.
The Black Sticks men tried unsuccessfully to claw the game back in an incredibly tense final 10 minutes, which at times threatened to erupt, with Chile guilty of a number of dodgy back tackles that went unpunished by the umpires. Chile eventually held out the Black Sticks and deserved their 3-2 victory. The Black Sticks have won the 4 test series 3-1 and now take on Japan in 4 tests as they continue their build-up to the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Albany from February 2nd.
Como se pueden ver le echan toda la culpa a los árbitros, típicas excusas.
